What is AirDrop?
AirDrop is a feature of iOS and macOS that lets Macs, iPhones, and iPads send files to each other wirelessly. This Apple service lets you send and receive more than just photos and videos. You can send and receive documents, websites, locations, and more.
How Does It Work?
Both Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi are used by AirDrop to send data wirelessly. The Bluetooth LE takes care of broadcasting, finding, and negotiating connections, while the point-to-point Wi-Fi makes it easy for data to be sent from one device to another.
This feature can only be used on Apple devices, and they must be close enough to each other to send and receive data. They can’t find each other if they are out of range for both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Also, for AirDrop to work, you have to be signed in to your iCloud account.
