You’ve gotten that frustrating message that a contact you’ve added to your iMessage group won’t send, just like a lot of other iPhone users. What’s worse than trying to send something important and having this happen?
You can try a few things to get your messages to send again, which is good news. If your iPhone won’t send or receive messages, check out these ways to fix it.
Why can’t my iPhone send or receive texts from my Android phone?
There are many reasons why your iPhone won’t send or receive messages. It could be because of your carrier, the settings on your iPhone, or a bug. We’re going to talk about how to handle this problem, but before we do, make sure:
- The signal on your iPhone is good. You might not be able to send the messages if the signal is weak.
- The aeroplane setting is not on.
- There is no “no service” problem with your iPhone. If so, first fix the problem.
- You have put in the right number. Don’t use the country code, such as “00 (country code)” or “+ (country code)” at the beginning.
Solution No. 1: Put the phone in aeroplane mode.
Switching your iPhone’s mode to “Airplane” can help it connect again. It will update the cell phone’s signal, data, etc.
Pulling down gives you access to the Airplane mode (Starting at the top right corner of the screen). Then, tap the aeroplane icon once to turn it on. This is usually the button next to the Wi-Fi icon. Wait a few seconds and then turn it off again.
Solution No. 2: Device settings (Enable Messages)
Checking how your device is set up is a good place to start. First, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network. Now go to Settings and find the section called “Messages.” Make sure SMS, MMS, and iMessage are all turned on.
Solution No. 3: Sign Again Apple ID
If you still see the error message, sign out of your Apple ID and then sign back in. Here’s how to do it:
- Click on Settings.
- Click on the Apple ID (Your name at the very stop)
- Tap and scroll down. Check out
- After signed out, restart your device.
- Then, go back to your apple account and log back in.
Solution No. 4: Check Date & Time
You need to make sure that the correct Date and Time are set. “Set automatically” is a choice that you can make. Still, check that the time and time zone are correct.
Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and make any necessary changes. If the time or time zone are wrong, turn off “Set automatically” and set the correct time and time zone by hand.
Solution No. 5: Switch Network
Some of the time LTE and 3G are to blame for this problem. Change your iPhone’s Voice & Data setting to 2G and try to send your texts again.
- Click on Settings.
- Now Click Cellular Data Options, then click Voice & Data.
- Last but not least, choose 2G. (You can also switch between LTE, 3G, and 2G.)
Solution No. 6: Check the recipient number
Check to see if the phone number of the person you want to send the text message to has been blocked.
- Settings can be accessed from the iPhone’s home screen.
- Choose “Phone.”
- Tap “Contacts Blocked.”
- See if the contact has been blocked.
Solution No. 7: Turn off iMessage
What’s the next step? Go to Settings > Messages and flip the switch next to iMessage to turn it off.
Solution No. 8: Restart your iPhone
Hold down the power button and the volume up button until the slider to turn off appears. For older devices: Hold the sleep/wake button until you see the slider, and then turn off your iPhone. Use the same button to turn it back on.
Solution No. 9: Reinsert the SIM card
Take the SIM card out of your iPhone and check to see if it’s still in good shape and hasn’t been scratched or broken. Then put it back in the right way. If the SIM card is broken or can’t be used anymore, talk to your carrier.
Solution No. 10: Reset your network settings
If your iPhone can’t send or receive messages, you might need to reset the network settings.
- Click on Settings.
- Select General > Move or Reset.
- Choose Reset
- Tap on Reset Network Settings.
Solution No. 11: Contact your carrier
It’s possible that the problem has nothing to do with your iPhone. Maybe there are problems with the network, so you should get in touch with your carrier.
Solution No. 12: Disable VPN or Turn Off Any VPN App
VPN can often stop you from getting online. If you can’t connect to the Internet, you might want to turn off any VPN apps that you have on your phone. Or, disable VPN in the settings:
- Go to the Settings page.
- Toggle VPN Off
Solution No. 14: Update iOS
The software may sometimes cause problems, which is why it’s a good idea to get the iOS update. To see if there is a new update, go to Settings, then General, then Software Update. Tap Download and install if there is.
Solution No. 15: Reset all settings
Your data and third-party apps won’t be lost, but your settings will be reset to the way they were when the phone was first made.
- Go to Settings > General > Move or Reset.
- Restart and press Reset all settings.
- Enter your passcode
- and confirm your action by tapping Reset all settings.
